Slim & Husky’s

Slim & Husky’s pizza

Nashville-based pizza restaurant Slim & Husky’s is set to fully open a location in The Factory at Franklin on Sept. 12 following a soft open late last month.

It is the first Williamson County location for the company, which was founded in 2017 and has six locations in Nashville, two in Georgia and one in Mississippi. The business recently closed its Fifth & Broadway location.

Slim + Husky’s offers pizzas, wings, salad, cinnamon rolls and cheesy bread, with the Franklin location to offer service to the Factory’s food hall. A ribbon-cutting is planned for 11 a.m. on Friday.

"Slim & Husky’s has always been about more than pizza — it’s about culture, creativity and connection,” Clint Gray, co-founder of Slim & Husky’s Pizza, says in a news release. “Opening at The Factory at Franklin allows us to bring those values to Williamson County and share our flavors with a brand new community."

The Factory at Franklin also has Hattie B’s, Etch, Saffire and Mojo’s Tacos, among other eateries.

Oak Hall Planned for McEwen Northside

Fashion retailer Oak Hall is now open at McEwen Northside in Cool Springs.

The store is part of the mixed-use development’s recent nine-story addition. The retailer carries a number of designers, including Faherty, Ann Mashburn and Billy Reid, among others, according to a press release. Oak Hall also has a location near The Mall at Green Hills.

“Being at McEwen Northside gives us the opportunity to showcase Oak Hall’s signature mix of style and service in a setting that matches the level of experience we want for our customers,” Oak Hall President Will Levy says in a news release. “We’re excited to introduce Franklin to a collection that spans everything from everyday wear to special occasions.”

The news follows the opening of restaurant Flower Child in the complex this year, and the opening of Hawkers slated for early 2026. Culinary Dropout opened on Sept. 10.

Housing Authority to Renovate 16 Units

The Franklin Housing Authority was recently awarded $600,000 to renovate 16 affordable units.

The funds will be used to renovate the Natchez Street Apartments at 117 Natchez Street. It is one of 16 units operated by the authority, which bought the location in 2021. Those below a certain income limit can rent the apartments.

The funding comes from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) and is funded through the Tennessee Housing Trust Fund (THTF).

"Affordable housing is critical to the Franklin community," Derwin Jackson, president and CEO of the FHA, says in a news release. "The Franklin Housing Authority appreciates the partnership and support from THDA by providing funding for needed renovations to the apartments."
