Culinary Dropout Slated for September Opening in Franklin

Culinary Dropout, a bar and restaurant featuring live music, is set to open its first Tennessee location on Sept. 10. 

Culinary Dropout’s menu is described as “crowd-pleasing food,” featuring classic American fare including ribs, fried chicken, BBQ pork belly nachos and pretzel bites, according to a press release. Several of the menu items also have an Asian flair, including Korean-style ribeye cap, Mongolian short rib and crispy chicken katsu.

It also has a drink menu featuring cocktails, beer and wine. The bar will offer live music each Thursday through Sunday.

The 10,395-square-foot space is located in Franklin's McEwen Northside at 4020 Aspen Grove Drive, near a cluster of restaurants including North Italia, Radish and Condado Taco. The bar will also have a mural featuring Founding Father — and Franklin's namesake — Benjamin Franklin.

Sam Fox and Arizona-based Fox Restaurant Concepts have 15 other Culinary Dropout locations, with the closest being in Birmingham, Ala.

The move comes two months after Fox’s Flower Child opened in Franklin. The hospitality company also manages The Twelve Thirty Club, Pushing Daisies and Blanco Cocina + Cantina in downtown Nashville, as well as The Henry in 12 South and Doughbird in Green Hills.

“We were overwhelmed by the warm welcome we received from the Franklin community when we opened Flower Child earlier this summer, and we are so excited to introduce another new neighborhood staple to the area,” Sam Fox, founder of FRC, says in the release. “Culinary Dropout is known for its laidback atmosphere and commitment to hospitality, and is another perfect fit for Franklin. We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome in the community.”
