Metro Nashville Police have arrested a man they said robbed two women at gunpoint while driving them from Nashville to Nolensville as part of a Jan. 7 Uber ride.

44-year-old Myron K. Hughes was arrested on Jan. 11 in Portland after police began investigating the alleged robbery of two unidentified women, ages 22 and 24, from Broadway early on Jan. 7.

Police said that Hughes claimed to be lost in the area of Nolensville Pike and Yelton Drive when he pulled onto a side street and displayed a pistol before kicking the women out of the car without their belongings.

The victims’ cell phones were recovered hours later on Southlake Drive. The victims later identified Hughes from a photo lineup.

“The victims said that Hughes told them that the female they were expecting was out due to illness,” MNPD said. “Having verified the license number sent to them, they got into the car.”

Sumner County authorities arrested Hughes before transferring him to the Davidson County Jail where he was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and booked on a $76,000 bond.
