A woman was killed and another injured in a traffic crash in Franklin on Tuesday.

According to the Franklin Police Department, Kimberly Wallace, 58 of Dickson, died at Williamson Medical Center. Her car, which police did not give details on, collided head-on with a Honda Accord after sideswiping a dump truck.

The driver of the Accord, who was also a female, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition with “serious life-threatening injuries.” She remained in the hospital Wednesday morning.

The crash happened in the 3700 block of New Highway 96 near West Haven, just before 6 p.m.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash, but reopened around 10 p.m.
