50 Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) teachers were awarded the annual Blue Ribbon Teacher awards on Tuesday.
MNPS, Nashville Public Education Foundation (NPEF) and Nashville’s Agenda Steering Committee selected the winners amongst a pool of candidates that includes full-time MNPS teachers with at least four years experience that have a strong Level of Effectiveness of their performance in the last three consecutive years and be endorsed by their principals. Winners are determined by a rigorous selection process that includes a review of evidence of outstanding teaching practices by a community panel.
“Top teaching talent is critically important to our success, and we are committed to recruiting and retaining the best teachers and honoring the hard work they do every day for Nashville’s children,” Dr. Adrienne Battle, MNPS Director of Schools, said in a release.
"We’re grateful to NPEF and Nashville’s Agenda for celebrating our teachers, who are working relentlessly to make sure every student is known while modeling transformative leadership in and out of their classrooms. Congratulations to this year’s Blue Ribbon Teachers on a job extremely well done.”
Along with Blue Ribbon designation, each teacher received a cash prize of $1,000, a trophy and a round-trip airline ticket courtesy of Southwest Airlines. Since 2014, the awards have recognized more than 400 of Nashville’s top public school educators.
“Each year, we are privileged to showcase the exceptional teachers throughout Nashville public schools,” Katie Cour, Nashville Public Education Foundation President & CEO, said. “We are honored to celebrate their hard work and tireless efforts for our students.”
