Spring Hill Police Chief Don Brite speaks at the grand opening of the SHPD headquarters on May 6, 2025.

The City of Spring Hill celebrated the opening of its new police headquarters on May 6.

Dozens of community and government leaders gathered at the multistory, 60,000 square-foot building located on Hathaway Boulevard for the celebration.

The $37,500,000 project includes a city court and meeting rooms, gym, interview rooms and more, and opened just shy of two years after the city broke ground in 2023.

“A few years ago, you all had a difficult choice to make of what CIP project you were going to fund, and there's lots of projects that different departments needed, but the board proved to move forward to fund the building of a new police department headquarters so on behalf of the Spring Hill Police Department to the board of members, thank you,” SHPD Chief Don Brite said.

Brite also noted the permanent stone memorial honoring SHPD Corporal McClaren who was killed in a traffic crash in 2010. The memorial was recently moved to the new headquarters as part of the building’s Memorial Park.

“We want him out there so that [the public] can see him and understand the ultimate sacrifice that he did make, and that we will never forget him,” Brite told the Williamson Scene.

“Today is a very significant milestone for our city in a lot of different ways,” Spring Hill Mayor Matt Fitterer said. “Look, the blueprint says built out of steel and concrete, but it’s built out of collaboration, cooperation and partnerships. That's what we're celebrating today.”
