Williamson County Schools Take Home 6 Fall State Championships

TSSAA state championships have taken place over the last month for fall sports — boys and girls cross country, boys and girls golf, girls soccer, and volleyball — and several local schools participated, with a few even taking home titles.

Independence boys and Brentwood and Battle Ground Academy girls all took home state championships in cross country, with the Bruins' Lauren Banovac taking home the individual trophy in Class AAA.

Page golf went back-to-back in Class AA, while Summit took home the program's first state title in volleyball.

Below, we take a sport-by-sport look at how Williamson County schools fared in the fall state championships.

Summit lost 5-2 in the first round to Houston

Franklin defeated Stewarts Creek 4-0 in the first round before falling 2-0 to Bearden in the semifinals.

Girls Volleyball

Class AAA

It was an all-WCS state championship match as Summit defeated Brentwood 3-2 in a thriller at MTSU. 

To reach the final, Summit swept both Siegel and Science Hill, while Brentwood beat Arlington 3-1 and swept Blackman.  

Division II-A

Battle Ground Academy went 0-2, losing to Lakeway Christian and Silverdale, each by a score of 3-1.
