Franklin Armed Robbery Suspect Found Dead in Nashville

A Jackson man accused of robbing a Franklin McDonald’s at gunpoint on June 11, was found dead two days later in Nashville.

Franklin Police announced the death of 52-year-old William D. Bartholomew on Thursday, June 26, nearly two weeks after officers from the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to an alley off of 11th Avenue North where Bartholomew’s body was discovered.

According to an MNPD spokesperson, Bartholomew had no obvious signs of trauma and foul play is not suspected, although his cause of death remains under investigation by the Davidson County Medical Examiner. 

Bartholomew’s body had no identification and no firearm, and he was not the subject of any active criminal cases by MNPD when he was discovered.

The medical examiner eventually identified Bartholomew, who FPD said was behind a masked, armed robbery of the Galleria Boulevard McDonald's in which just over $100 in cash was taken.

While FPD previously released a Tennessee Department of Corrections mug shot of Bartholomew, no record of previous state charges or incarceration were available through TDOC’s website.
