Three former Ravenwood High football teammates are national champions.

Linebacker Junior Colson, linebacker Trevor Andrews and defensive back Myles Pollard are all teammates at Michigan, which won the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday by defeating Washington 34-13 in Houston.

Colson, a junior, had his usual big impact for the Wolverines, who completed their season with a 15-0 record. The 6-3, 247-pound native of Haiti totaled six tackles, which ranked second on the team.

It was quite a season for Colson, who earned second-team all-Big 10 honors. He led Michigan through 14 games with 89 tackles, 28 more than the second-highest total on the team. Colson posted a season-high 11 tackles in Michigan’s win over Ohio State in November, and he added 10 tackles in the Wolverines’ College Football Playoff semifinal win over Alabama.

Colson in December won the Lott IMPACT Trophy, given to the college football player who makes an impact on and off the field.

Pollard, a 6-1, 190-pound sophomore, played in two games this season, posting a tackle in Michigan’s win over Bowling Green in September.

Andrews, a 6-1, 224-pound junior, played in two games this season, against Bowling Green and Indiana.
