TriStar Health, the local brand of HCA Healthcare hospitals, announced Monday that it plans to build a $250 million hospital in Spring Hill.
The hospital system will apply for a certificate of need for a full-service acute care hospital on the site of the current TriStar Spring Hill emergency room building, according to a press release.
The announcement comes as a bill that would overhaul the state's certificate of need process is on its way to the governor's desk. HCA supported the bill while the Tennessee Hospital Association, including Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Ascension Saint Thomas, opposed it.
If approved, the hospital would include 68 beds, an intensive care unit, a labor and delivery unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, four operating rooms, cardiac catheterization units and imaging services. The project has support from Spring Hill's mayor, Jim Hagaman, according to the release.
TriStar proposed a $21 million East Nashville freestanding emergency department in February 2023. It has a certificate of need, but has yet to begin work on the site.
