This past March, a new Kroger opened at 210 Franklin Road in Brentwood, expanding the former Harris Teeter supermarket building.

The new, 84,000 square foot store employing more than 200 associates held a grand opening on March 16, replacing a Kroger about 1/2 mile south at 300 Franklin Road in the Brentwood Place shopping area. The building has remained vacant since that time and a complete renovation of Brentwood Place has been in the works.

The multi-tenant buildings being renovated are owned by Baker Storey McDonald Properties, Inc., with construction being done by Michael Hindman Architects.

At last week’s Williamson, Inc. Public Affairs Roundtable event, City of Brentwood City Manager Kirk Bednar and Brentwood Mayor Regina Smithson confirmed that the former Kroger won’t be vacant too much longer. Stein Mart will occupy part of this space. Bednar said that Stein Mart will occupy half to two-thirds of the space. Another retailer will occupy the rest of the space.

The area of the shopping center previously used by Kroger will mimic the other side of the shopping center, which already has been renovated.

Just two years ago, Stein Mart moved out of the Brentwood Place shopping center and Nordstrom Rack opened in their location. When they vacated their Brentwood location, Stein Mart opened a new store in Cool Springs.

According to a corporate representative from Stein Mart, the Brentwood Place location will opening in March of 2017.
