Franklin-based hospital company Community Health Systems announced Wednesday that Lynn Simon will retire from her role at the company at the first of 2025.

Simon has been with the company since 2010 and served as president of health care innovation since 2023 and chief medical officer since 2017, according to a press release. Miguel Benet, current executive vice president of clinical operations will take over the role, working as president of clinical operations and CMO.  

Simon is credited with establishing an AHRQ-certified Patient Safety Organization to reduce serious safety events at the hospitals. She also created a transfer center to help patients transfer from hospital to hospital, and led the development of the CHS Patient Access Center to allow patients to schedule appointments online. In addition, Simon helped implement remote patient monitoring and managed the partnership with Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company. 

Simon will continue to work for the company in a consulting role, according to the release. 

"Lynn’s numerous contributions across the CHS organization and over many years have positively affected patient care and clinical outcomes, improved the experience of our clinicians, advanced our culture in meaningful ways, and will have long-lasting and significant impact," said CHS CEO Tim Hingtgen. "I am so grateful for her leadership and look forward to working with her more in the years ahead."

CHS is under investigation from the U.S. Department of Justice related to inpatient admissions, dialysis and overall practices and procedures.
