The faint smell of popcorn and the neon lit marquee of the historic Franklin Theatre function as a time capsule of the movie-going experience in 1937. There are now some 21st century improvements accompanying the theater’s vintage ambiance. An upgraded sound system and renovated interiors amplify the typical movie session, but it’s the non-movie events that make the Franklin Theatre a vital part of the culture in Downtown Franklin. Live music, comedy shows, dance recitals, live theatrical performances and more can be found within the quaint walls. With a nice view of the stage and excellent acoustics, any cozy seat in the house is a good seat — especially with some concessions in hand.
