VUMC plans clinic for well-known Brentwood building

Vanderbilt University Medical Center has begun renting a well-known Brentwood building located on a 43-acre property, with plans to make it a clinic. 

VUMC has entered a long-term lease with Hudson DC Assets, which bought the building and surrounding land in 2017 for $110 million, according to the Williamson County Register of Deeds. 

The 347,500-square-foot building, located at 402 Franklin Road, was previously used as an AT&T data center. 

In a Tuesday press release, VUMC compared the future facility in Brentwood to its Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks. The hospital also previously reinvented a former Harris Teeter building — located near the Highway 70-100 split — with Vanderbilt Health Belle Meade. The aforementioned facilities represent two of the hospital system’s more than 180 ambulatory and walk-in clinics located throughout Middle Tennessee, Southern Kentucky and Northern Alabama. Current zoning allows for the building to be used as a medical office space, and VUMC is still developing plans for the space, according to the release. 

“The size of this property and its location will help the Vanderbilt Health System strengthen its mission to serve the health care needs of patients near and far much as the One Hundred Oaks facility has,” said C. Wright Pinson, deputy CEO and chief health system officer for VUMC. “We are excited about the property’s potential and look forward to working with local community leaders as we plan for its future.” 

VUMC also plans to add patient capacity at the One Hundred Oaks campus, according to the press release. In 2022, VUMC had considered operating a clinic at Antioch's Global Mall at the Crossings, which Metro acquired that year for $44 million. Those plans fell through and the mall is now set to be demolished.
