A Columbia man has been charged with numerous drug crimes following a months-long investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, Maury County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
40-year-old James Rucker has been charged with possession over 300 grams of cocaine, possession of 56 grams of methamphetamine, possession of ecstasy for resale, possession of marijuana for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, evading arrest, and violation of parole.
According to a WCSO news release, Rucker was arrested on March 13 at his Rally Hill Road home where “vehicles, firearms, nearly $50,000 and a cache of drugs" were seized. WCSO added that Rucker is “believed to be responsible for trafficking drugs throughout the Middle Tennessee area.”
“During my recent campaign, I vowed to remain diligent in our fight against illegal drugs in our county and to work collaboratively with our law enforcement partners throughout Middle Tennessee,” WCSO Sheriff Jeff Hughes said in a news release.
“This arrest is a good example of just that, a collaborative effort between the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Murray County Sheriff’s Office and the TBI that culminated in the arrest of a known, major drug dealer. I want to commend the deputies and investigators from all entities for their efforts in this regard.”
Law enforcement said that Rucker, who remains jailed in Maury County, is a known member of the Bloods, a street gang that originated in Los Angeles. At the time of publishing, Rucker doesn't have a court date listed.
