Brentwood City Manager Kirk Bednar to retire in 2025

Brentwood City Manager Kirk Bednar will retire in 2025 after more than two decades with the city.

Bednar, who has served as city manager since 2013, announced his retirement plan on March 18.

“It has truly been a personally rewarding and meaningful career,” Bednar said in a news release. “I am very proud to have been a small part of many accomplishments during my time in Brentwood, all of which were the result of a partnership between the community, elected officials, and city staff.”

Bednar is a native of Streator, Ill., and has served as city manager since 2013. Previously, he served as assistant city manager from 2000 through 2013. In 2022, he was named City Manager of the Year by the Tennessee City Managers Association. 

The city will begin a national search to hire Brentwood’s next city manager later this year.
