Football Roundup: Ravenwood Knocks Off Oakland, Summit Beats Nolensville, Brentwood Downs Indy

Week 10 was the penultimate week of the regular season, so the stakes were high across Middle Tennessee.

Let's take a look at the rest of the Williamson County and Davidson County results from week 10. 

Ravenwood 32 Oakland 31 (Overtime) 

It feels odd to call a win by the second-ranked team in Class 6A an upset, but when the top-ranked team is Oakland at home the word upset is appropriate.

In a clash between two unbeaten powerhouses, Ravenwood (9-0) brought down the Patriots (8-1) with a walk-off two-point conversion in overtime. The win was the Raptors first again Oakland in five meetings.

Oakland jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but Ravenwood responded with 14 straight points with Femi Babalola throwing a 65-yard TD to Auburn commit Donovan Starr and Jaylen Pollard running in one from the 1-yard line. However, Oakland took a 17-14 lead into halftime with a field goal in the final minute.

Babalola found MTSU commit Ben Hubbard for a score early in the third to pull ahead 21-17, but Oakland re-gained the lead 24-21. Ravenwood's Carols Guerra then stepped up to nail a 40-yard field goal with 2:22 left to play, sending the game to overtime.

The Patriots scored first in overtime, but the Raptors once again responded. Babalola and Hubbard connected for another touchdown from 8 yards out. Ravenwood then decided to go for the win. Babalola found Patrick Sullivan near the left pylon, sealing the upset. 

Ravenwood and Brentwood will square off for the region title in the regular season finale. 

Summit 20 Nolensville 13

The Spartans (3-6) won their second game in a row in one of three all-WillCo battles this week, knocking off Nolensville (6-3) in Spring Hill. 

The Knights held a 6-0 lead at halftime thanks to a pair of J.D. Kuhlman field goals. An 11-yard Jack Dever touchdown run built the lead to 13-0 early in the third quarter.

Summit then scored 20 unanswered points to defend its home turf. Mason McElhaney threw a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter, a 70-yarder to Ryan Jones and a 28-yard score to Luke Oliver, to tie the game at 13. 

The senior quarterback then ran in the game-winning touchdown from 5 yards out with just under three minutes left in the contest. London Byford then sealed the win with a late interception.

Summit will visit Independence in the regular season finale, while Nolensville will host Page. 

Brentwood 20 Independence 6

Brentwood (8-1, 4-0) took care of business in a Region 6-6A matchup, defeating Independence (2-7, 1-3) on the road. The win was the fifth time in the last time games the Bruins have held their opponents to single digits.

The Eagles, meanwhile, reverted back to early-season scoring struggles after a pair of dominant blowout wins in their past two outings. 

Brentwood quarterback J.C. White paced the offense with two touchdowns, one to Austin Peay commit Clayton Merrill and one to Coleman Childs. Gavyn Nelson also had a rushing score. 

The Bruins will face Battle of the Woods rival Ravenwood on the road next week with the region crown on the line. Indy will host Summit.

Christ Presbyterian Academy 21 Franklin Road Academy 7

CPA (9-0, 5-0) prevailed in the biggest private school matchup of the week as they took down fellow unbeaten FRA (8-1, 4-1) on the road.

The Lions's stifling defense forced a third-consecutive single-digit scoring performance. They forced four turnovers on the night, including a first-half fumble when FRA was driving to take the lead.

Following a Bradshaw Klym rushing score for CPA, FRA's Jayden Rush returning the ensuing kickoff back to tie the game at 7-7. Hutson Chance then tossed a 53-yard score to Owen Cabell to pull ahead for good.

Rawls Patterson's 88-yard rushing touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter, part of a 212-yard night for the junior, gave CPA a two-score lead, and the defense held on for the win.

CPA will visit Davidson Academy next week, while FRA will host Pope Prep.
