Tupelo Honey

Tupelo Honey has closed its Franklin location after 10 years in business, Williamson Source reported.

The restaurant, offering Southern fare, claimed that the closure is due to its lease at 2000 Meridian Blvd. coming to a close. Its last day of business was Monday.

“We’re so grateful for the ten wonderful years of biscuits, gravy, and good company with this community,” Williamson Source wrote, citing a note on the business’s door. “We hope to see you at one of our other Tupelo Honey locations real soon!”

Tupelo Honey also has locations in Knoxville and Chattanooga, with 24 locations nationally.

Williamson Health hires three

Williamson Health Medical Group has hired three new providers.

Family doctor Dr. Youssef Sabet will work at Williamson Health Medical Group Primary Care, located inside Williamson Medical Tower. He will take over the practice of Dr. William Daniel Halford, according to a press release.

In addition, Dr. David Tran will work as a family doctor at Tollgate Internal Medicine in Thompson’s Station.

Finally, Dr. Katherine Morone will work as an inpatient neurologist with Williamson Health Medical Group at the Williamson Medical Center. A Vanderbilt University School of Medicine graduate, she specializes in stroke care, cognitive disorders, dementia and preventive neurological care.

“Our priority is ensuring patients have access to exceptional care close to home,” said Tim Burton, chief administrative officer of Williamson Health Medical Group. “Drs. Sabet, Tran and Morone each bring valuable experience and a patient-centered approach that will strengthen the care we provide throughout our community.”

The additions come while the independent hospital system is poised to sell to Ascension, a decision that the hospital board approved earlier this month. Williamson County Commission is set to vote on the matter in the coming months.

Cool Springs Marriott completes $10M renovation

The Franklin Marriott Cool Springs Hotel and Convention Center has completed a $10 million renovation.

The renovation, led by Chartwell Hospitality, includes a “contemporary refresh” of the conference center, updated guest rooms and lobby redecoration, as well as changes to the attached restaurant Stave Regional Kitchen & Lounge, according to a press release. Chartwell Hospitality acquired the property, located at 700 Cool Springs Blvd, in 2018, following the hotel’s previous renovation in 2016. The conference center is co-owned by the City of Franklin and Williamson County.

“Every part of this project was guided by attention to detail, reflecting our commitment to providing modern comfort and convenience throughout the hotel and conference venue,” said Matthew Lahiff, general manager of Franklin Marriott Cool Springs Hotel and Conference Center. “We can’t wait to treat our guests to a refreshed experience as we continue our role as a trusted community partner and destination for the Franklin area.”

Earlier this year, Embassy Suites by Hilton Franklin Cool Springs also announced a full-property renovation.
