Franklin-based hospital company Community Health Systems announced this week that its subsidiary will acquire 10 urgent care centers. 

Northwest Urgent Care, a Tucson, Arizona-based subsidiary of CHS will acquire 10 Arizona centers from Carbon Health. The transaction is set to be completed by the end of 2024 and will bring Northwest Urgent Care’s roll up to 80 sites of care, according to a press release.

CHS has completed a series of divestitures this year, selling a Tennessee hospital in April, and three Pennsylvania hospitals in August. A $320 million deal to purchase two North Carolina hospitals fell through, too. 

“Our strategic investments are accelerating the growth of important access points in our health systems and expanding capacity for more patients,” said Tim Hingtgen, CEO of Community Health Systems. “In markets like Tucson, we are successfully executing strategies that make healthcare accessible and convenient, further improve our competitive position, and generate value for all of our stakeholders.”

In February, CHS announced it was under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, which requested documents related to practices and procedures, inpatient admissions and inpatient dialysis at the company’s hospitals.
