As Franklin is only a 20-minute drive away from one of the biggest music cities in America, it’s no surprise that a few of the greats have settled down in the surrounding areas in Williamson County. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to come across someone who had written your favorite song on country radio shopping at Walmart, and you may not even know. However, songwriter series’ like The Red Wheel Songwriter Series at the Factory in Franklin is an intimate performance given by some of the greats in songwriting behind the scenes. The series features three acclaimed writers per show. One notable writer was Mark Irwin, who’s co-written cuts for major stars like Reba McEntire to Jimmy Yeary and co-wrote Tim McGraw’s “Humble and Kind.” At this event, patrons get to hear the true stories that inspired some of these legendary songs. The series features writers that spread across genres from country to pop to rock ‘n’ roll, but a lot of these writers have deep ties to some of the greats in country music.
