Football Roundup: Brentwood Beats Centennial; Page, Nolensville, Indy, Summit, More Win Big

With the Williamson County Schools returning to action this week, and many of the private schools on a bye, week 9 featured a important region battles.

Let's take a look at the rest of the Williamson County and Davidson County results from week 9. 

Brentwood 20 Centennial 10

Brentwood (7-1) and Centennial (5-3) faced off in one of three all-Williamson County matchups this week, with the Bruins prevailing to continue their unbeaten start to the season. 

The game was scoreless until near four minutes left in the first half when quarterback J.C. White found senior Alex Grear in the end zone. Just a few minutes later, senior Landon Okla ran a touchdown in 4 yards out.

Centennial added a field goal from Wells Stanley just before the halftime break to make the score 14-3 after two quarters. Late in the third quarter, the Cougars cut the lead to 14-10 when quarterback Riley Turner linked up with Isaac Bonds for a 12-yard TD.

The Bruins were able to hold on, adding a late pick-six from Shepard Smith, to finish off the win.

Brentwood will visit Independence next week, while Centennial will host Page.

Page 38 Hillsboro 0

Page (8-0, 3-0) had another dominant outing on Friday night as the Patriots shut out Region 6-5A foe Hillsboro (4-4, 1-2). 

Page has now blanked seven of eight opponents on the season, with the defense's only score allowed coming last week in a 49-6 win at Lawson. It was the second-consecutive week, and third time overall, that the Burros have been shut out.

With the win, the Patriots have won 16 consecutive regular season games, dating back to a 30-27 loss at Independence in week 2 of the 2023 campaign.

Next week, Page will take on Centennial on the road, while Hillsboro hosts Glencliff

Nolensville 37 Lawson 7

After a scoreless first quarter, Nolensville (6-2, 4-0) quarterback Jack Dever ran in a 7-yard touchdown to break the tie early in the second. Four minutes later, Lawson (2-6, 0-4) responded with a red zone rushing score of its own to tie the game at 7-7.

Nolensville would score 30 consecutive points to remain undefeated in Region 6-5A. The barrage started with a 37-yard pass from Dever to Landon Smotherman, followed by a score from Smotherman on a sweep, both in the second quarter. The Knights led 21-7 at the half.

A pair of second-half rushing touchdowns from sophomore Tristen Lithmexay, one in each quarter, put the game out of reach. 

Nolensville will travel to Summit next week, while Lawson will host Columbia Central.

Independence 30 Fairview 0

After an 0-6 start to the season, Independence (2-6) has held opponents scoreless whole scoring 30-plus points in back-to-back games following Friday's night's shutout of Fairview (4-4).

The loss was just the second time Fairview has been shutout on the season, following September's loss to Creek Wood.

Indy started strong with a 52-yard kickoff return touchdown from sophomore Lucas Penland. Eli Baumann, Hunter Mullen, and Matthew Horner each scored on the ground in the first half, giving the Eagles a 27-0 halftime lead.

Independence will host Brentwood next week, and Fairview will travel to Sycamore.
