Williamson County Judge David Veile sworn into office

Franklin lawyer David Veile was sworn in as Williamson County's newest judge on Friday after he was elected to the circuit court bench on Aug. 1.

The contentious March 2024 primary election saw Veile defeat appointed Judge Erin Nations to earn the Republican nomination. Nations was sworn into office in November 2023, temporarily filling the vacancy created by now-retired Circuit Criminal Judge Michael Binkley. Veile was uncontested in the August election.

The 3 p.m. ceremony took place inside of Franklin's Historic Williamson County Courthouse and was attended by dozens of community and government leaders including Veile's new circuit bench colleagues. Binkley issued the oath of office to Veile.

Tennessee Senior Judge and Nashville School of Law professor Robert E. Lee Davies praised Veile's commitment to his campaign.

"I have never seen a group of people come together and work as hard as this group to elect David Veile," Davies said.

Veile thanked his collegues, as well as Nations, for their help and support with his transition into his new role.

"I can say without a doubt that this is the most significant moment of my professional life," Veile said. "I promise to honor the people of this community and the trust that they placed in me, and ultimately, I promise to honor the oath that you just heard me swear to."
