In-N-Out officials have told employees that the restaurant company will be closing its Irvine, Calif., headquarters and employees will be expected to move to either its Baldwin Park, Calif., office or its future Eastern corporate headquarters in Franklin.

The transition is planned to take several years, with the company aiming for a 2029 completion of the personnel moves.

The Williamson Scene contacted In-N-Out for comment about its plans for employees and received a press release that verified the looming move.

In-N-Out currently has about 500 corporate employees in Irvine and occupies nine floors of a building known as University Tower.

According to the release, centralizing the Western headquarters to Baldwin Park keeps the company's California roots, as some employees relocate to the future Eastern territory office in Franklin, announced in January 2023. The company is still eyeing an opening in late 2026 at a building under construction on Goose Creek Bypass property for which it paid $36.1 million (read here). More than 200 employees are expected to be based in the new Eastern headquarters.

The press release states that In-N-Out "plans to bring its West Coast headquarters team back together under one roof" in Baldwin Park, where the company was founded in 1948.

"In every decision about the future of In-N-Out Burger, I give strong consideration to what my grandparents and my family would think is best for our company,” Lynsi Snyder, owner and president of In-N-Out Burger, said in the release.

Snyder is the granddaughter of company founders Harry and Esther Snyder, who opened what is generally considered California’s first drive-thru hamburger stand. Harry Snyder opened the corporate offices less than a mile from the original In-N-Out store.

In-N-Out Burger operates more than 400 stores today and maintains offices in Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Oregon and Colorado, in addition to California and the future space in Tennessee. The company recently announced it hopes to add up to 35 restaurants in Tennessee but did not offer a timeline. Snyder told the Nashville Business Journal last week that there are around 100 employees at each location which means the company could bring 3,500 jobs to the state.
