A Dickson man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 2020 shooting in Franklin that wounded a 19-year-old man.

Before his trial was set to begin, 25-year-old Johnathan Wade Stratton pleaded guilty on Oct. 30 to three charges in relation to the shooting. Two other charges, possessing and employing a firearm with the intent to go armed, were dismissed as part of the plea deal.

He was ultimately sentenced to 10 years for conspiracy to commit especially aggravated robbery, six years for aggravated assault, and 10 years for unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. The sentences for the second and third charges will run concurrently, or at the same time, to count one, meaning an effective 10-year prison sentence.

As previously reported, law enforcement said that Stratton was involved in the Jan. 7, 2020 shooting near the intersection of Lula Lane and Incinerator Road in Franklin.

In a 2020 affidavit filed in Williamson County Court, the Williamson County Sheriff's Office described a drug deal that turned into robbery. That incident resulted in the 19-year-old man being shot twice with an AR-15 style rifle. The affidavit states he was ambushed inside of a car by Stratton and another man.

The victim played dead in a ditch and made his way to Williamson Medical Center where he was treated for his wounds, according to the affidavit which differs from the original account of law enforcement that the victim was transported to the hospital.

The car that the robbery happened in was later found wrecked and abandoned in a Luna Lane ditch. The car was traced to a family member of Stratton and the victim's cell phone was also recovered from the car.

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Stratton two days after the shooting, initially charging him with especially aggravated robbery. Stratton was later indicted on the four additional charges by a Williamson County Grand Jury.
