Mary Smith

Williamson County commissioner Mary Smith is running for Williamson County Mayor.

Smith, a Republican, has served as one of two District 5 commissioners since 2022 after moving to Williamson County in 2000.

“Williamson County is at a crossroads,” Smith said in a news release. “With massive debt nearing $1 billion, outdated technology, inadequate infrastructure and a number of quality-of-life concerns, we face significant challenges. The outcome of this election will have wide-ranging consequences for our children and grandchildren.”

Smith lists “responsible growth,” increased government transparency and maintaining low taxes as platform issues, and touts her corporate and public service experience.

Smith joins a growing field that now includes former state Rep. Brandon Ogles and Williamson County commissioner and health care executive Todd Kaestner.

In August, sitting Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson announced he will not seek reelection in 2026, having served in the position since 2002.

The primary election will be held May 5, with the general election on Aug. 6.
