Kacey Musgraves event

Addie Cassetty, Sally Campbell and Brittany Nale stand together for the Kacey Musgraves event in Franklin, Tenn., on May 19, 2026.

Amidst the tomato plants and potting soil, Kacey Musgraves fans lined up, some for several hours, in the humid garden center of the Walmart Supercenter in Cool Springs.

Musgraves announced earlier that day on social media that she would be at the Walmart for an in-store signing from 5-8 p.m. to celebrate the launch of her exclusive Kacey Lee fashion collection.

Musgraves released her sixth major studio album Middle of Nowhere on May 1, sticking to her Texas upbringing with down-to-earth realness and gritty southern truth-telling throughout the record.

She’s been upfront in her songs from the beginning, when Same Trailer, Different Park put Musgraves on the map. Now, with Middle of Nowhere, she’s still spilling secrets, delving into themes of loneliness.

She’s relatable, and that’s why fans like Janelle Fabbro, who took off work to stand in line and meet Kacey at the Cool Springs Walmart, have stuck with her through the years.

“We’ve been here for about three hours. The heat’s rough, but it’s worth it,” Fabbro told Williamson Scene, standing toward the beginning of the line and clutching a newly-purchased Middle of Nowhere vinyl for Musgraves to sign.  “'Lonliest Girl' is my favorite song on the record, even though I’m married. I’m not technically a lonely girl. But at one point in my life, that’s exactly who I was. I had an era of my life where I was lonely, but I was able to be myself, find out more about who I am and fall in love with myself before meeting the right person. I love that message, and she delivers it well.”

In order for fans to gain access to the event, they had to first go into the main entrance of Walmart and purchase either a CD or vinyl version of Middle of Nowhere for the country superstar to sign. Fans were also encouraged to check out the 100-piece capsule of Musgraves’ Kacey Lee collection prior to the meet and greet.

Musgraves’ collection is the first celebrity collaboration with Lee, intertwining her classic boutique-country style with the heritage denim Lee is known for. The line includes denim sets, swimwear, sleepwear, accessories and even mini trucker hats printed with Lee’s logo for pets.

Heather Caldwell, PR Manager for Lee Jeans, expressed gratitude for Walmart and Musgraves for hosting the collaborative event.

“Kacey is such an incredible artist, and there’s a lot of her that aligns with Lee as a brand,” Caldwell told Williamson Scene. “She grew up wearing Lee denim, so there’s a great connection there. We, as a brand, always approach things as celebrating your history and creating your own path. That is definitely something that Kacey does with her music, especially with her new album.”

Before the meet and greet, the eight-time Grammy-winning artist spent some time with her newly-released clothing line inside the store with beloved Kentuckian Ann Brooks, a Walmart greeter in her 70s who’s gained massive social media attention for her wholesome southern charm.

Brooks, a huge Musgraves fan, walked around the store with the country artists, looking through her collection of camo swimwear and gingham hot pants. Brooks, herself, donned a purse that resembled a bag of rotisserie chicken– cracking Musgraves up when they first met up in the clothing aisle.

Around 6 p.m., a light blue truck with Musgraves in the back pulled up to the Walmart Garden Center, where fans were lined up waiting for their turn to meet her. She took pictures, chatted with fans and signed records in the indoor section of the Garden section, wearing a denim set from Kacey Lee.
