Local restaurateur Johnny Weber has acquired downtown Franklin restaurant Gray’s on Main and plans to maintain the business, according to Williamson Herald.

The sellers of the popular hospitality business were Joni Cole and Michael Cole, who opened Gray’s on Main in 2013.

The Post was unable to determine what Weber — known with business partner Cam Harrington for Zolo’s Italian Restaurant (also located in downtown Franklin), The Country Boy (in Leiper’s Fork) and Hogwood BBQ (in Cool Springs) — paid for the restaurant business.

Of note and earlier this month, the Coles sold the building from which Gray’s on Main operates, located at 332 Main St., for $5.65 million to Brodsky Gray’s Mercantile LLC, according to Williamson County property records. Details about the LLC are unclear.

The Coles acquired the property in 2013 for $2.3 million from Andy Marshall, founder of A. Marshall Hospitality. The latter is known for its Puckett’s Restaurant, among other similar businesses.

The Gray’s on Main menu focuses on Southern fare such as fried catfish, fried pimento cheese balls, shrimp, cheddar grits and cornbread.

Gray’s on Main is housed in a building that previously accommodated Gray Drug Company, an old-school pharmacy that offered — in addition to prescription fills — household sundries and a soda fountain. The business seemingly ceased operations in 2004.
