For the Christian with a sense of humor, or someone who can simply appreciate a Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, the best way to end your Easter Sunday is a screening of the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar at Franklin Theatre. The story follows Jesus Christ’s final days (portrayed by Ted Neeley) from the perspective of Judas Iscariot (Carl Anderson), his betrayer. At its release, the 1973 film didn’t get the best reviews, but now it’s a time capsule of 70s sensibilities, in hair (wigs), style and attitude. The result is a dramatically campy retelling of the story translated directly from the stage to the screen. I’d be surprised if the titular track was not stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
