The Franklin Theatre is kicking off its American Classics series with the 1940s, and it's going to be tough to top this opening film in terms of American iconography. 1943's Casablanca is one of the most enduring films in the history of Hollywood. Starring Humphrey Bogart (one of my all-time favorite actors) and Ingrid Bergman, the World War II romance drama won the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay. The latter award was maybe the most deserved, as the movie has no less than five immortal lines of dialogue — including "Here's looking at you, kid" and "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." Check out the Morocco-set adventure on the big screen this week.
